Meet the Team: Lucila
Growth Manager EMEA at HumanX
Name: Lucila Carminatti
Title: Growth Manager EMEA
How long you have been at HumanX: 6 months
What’s your background, and what brought you to HumanX?
I studied International Relations, which sounds very diplomatic until you learn my real talent is getting people to say yes. I started out in client relations at sports events, including the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. After moving to Europe, I worked at a venture capital firm doing event management, mostly around startup events and competitions. From there I moved on to a well known European tech media and events company, which is where I really caught the tech bug. It was a blast, but I always knew I wanted to pivot into Sales, specifically in the tech event world, because it just fits my personality better. So I made the switch in 2024, and it has been great ever since.
The truth is, I live for events. The adrenaline rush, the chaos, and that glorious feeling of accomplishment and celebration when it's all over. That's my fuel.
What are you most excited about for this year’s HumanX event?
I'm super excited about the event coming to Amsterdam, a city where so much is happening in the tech world right now. There's real energy in the European AI ecosystem, and Amsterdam sits right in the middle of it all. But honestly, what gets me most fired up is that HumanX Amsterdam is about connecting the two ecosystems: US and EMEA. So much of the AI conversation has been happening on opposite sides of the Atlantic, and this is a chance to bring those worlds into one room. Getting to play a part in building those bridges, and seeing the kind of conversations that can spark from a single hallway run in, is exactly why I do this job.
If someone’s on the fence about attending, what would you tell them?
Honestly, the event speaks for itself. Just look at the speaker and sponsor lineup. That alone tells you the caliber of people who'll be in the room and the kind of conversations you'll walk into. And if you knew the team running it behind the scenes, you'd be sold in a second. I might be biased, but the people putting this together care about every detail, and it shows. Come see for yourself.
What’s been your favorite HumanX moment so far?
Definitely HumanX San Francisco back in April. We're an international and remote company, so most of the time my colleagues exist as little squares on a screen. Getting to actually meet and spend time with them and our partners in person was really nice. Having real conversations over coffee (or something stronger) is a good reminder of why you enjoy working with these people. It turns out my coworkers are even better in 3D.
How has AI changed the way you work?
Honestly, it's been a game changer. A big part of my job is prospecting and outreach, so I lean on AI constantly to build and clean up target account lists and sort through large amounts of data. It takes the heavy lifting out of the repetitive stuff so I can spend more time actually talking to people. But my favorite use might be as a personal tutor. Whenever I hit something I don't fully get, I ask it to explain it to me like I'm 16, without pretending I already know. Turns out "explain it like I'm 16" is the fastest way to actually understand something, and it's saved me from nodding along in more meetings than I'd like to admit.
What’s one tool or habit that helps you stay on top of your game, either personally or professionally?
A meeting note taker, hands down. We use them for the sessions at our events too. It captures and summarizes conversations so well that I can actually stay present in a meeting instead of scribbling notes and missing half of what's said. The part I really like is that you can ask it for feedback on the meetings themselves, which is a surprisingly useful way to catch things you'd otherwise miss and get better over time.
What’s one thing that always makes your day better?
Nothing beats starting the day with a good black coffee or a mate (a traditional South American herbal tea, and basically a personality trait where I'm from). I'm Argentine, so this is my gasoline.
What’s your favorite productivity hack at work?
The Pomodoro technique, all the way. I have a plugin right in my browser that chops my work into 25 minute sessions and reminds me when it's time to take a break. It's great because, left to my own devices, I get distracted easily, so committing to focus on one specific task for those 25 minutes keeps me honest. Those little focused sprints are what actually get things done. I'm also a big fan of browser plugins in general. I use a bunch of them to push information across the different platforms I work in, so instead of copying and pasting the same thing five times, it's just one click and done. Saves me a surprising amount of time.
If you could teleport anywhere for lunch, where are you going?
Shin Udon in Tokyo, no hesitation, for their ramen carbonara. Two of my favorite meals combined into one perfect bowl. I had it once and I genuinely still think about it to this day.
